Introducing the North Alabama Parent Experience Report

Every week, we hear parents across North Alabama ask the same questions:

"Who's the best pediatrician?"

"Does anyone have an OB they loved?"

"We're moving to the area—who should we see?"

The answers are almost always the same: a handful of Facebook recommendations, online reviews, or stories from friends and family. While those recommendations can be helpful, they don't always tell the whole story.

The truth is that every family has different priorities.

Some parents want a provider who never makes them feel rushed. Others value detailed education during pregnancy, easy access through the patient portal, shorter wait times, or an office that's easy to reach when questions come up. Those differences matter.

That's what inspired the North Alabama Parent Experience Report™. What if families had access to something more meaningful than recommendations alone?

We don't help families find the "best" provider.

We help families find the provider that's the best fit for them.

A Different Kind of Resource

This isn't another "Best of North Alabama" list or a popularity contest. Our goal is to create a comprehensive community resource built from the anonymous experiences of local parents. Instead of simply asking who parents recommend, we're asking why.

We're collecting feedback on things like:

  • Communication

  • Bedside manner

  • Shared decision-making

  • Patient education

  • Office experience

  • Access to care

  • Wait times

  • Postpartum support

  • And much more.

Imagine looking for a pediatrician and being able to compare practices based on communication, office experience, patient education, and the things parents say matter most—instead of simply choosing the practice with the highest star rating.

That is The Parent Experience Report™

By looking beyond overall ratings, we hope to help families find the provider that's the best fit for their own priorities and values.

Once responses have been collected, we'll compile the results into a 2026 North Alabama Parent Experience Report and make it available free to the community.

Rather than simply naming "the best" provider, the report will highlight trends across the things parents told us matter most—such as communication, wait times, bedside manner, office experience, labor and birth support, postpartum care, and more. The goal is to help families compare practices based on the qualities that are most important to their unique needs and values.

Why Your Experience Matters

Whether your experience was wonderful, frustrating, or somewhere in between—it matters.

Every survey response helps create a more complete picture of what families are experiencing across North Alabama. Our hope is that this project becomes an annual resource families can use when choosing a pediatrician, OB, or midwife. It may also help identify larger trends and opportunities to improve the parent experience throughout our community.

This project isn't just about helping the next family choose a provider. It's about creating a clearer picture of what parents in North Alabama are experiencing—what's working well, where families are thriving, and where opportunities exist to better support them. Every story shared contributes to something larger than a survey.

How You Can Help

If you've seen a pediatrician, OB, or midwife within the past 3 years, we'd love to hear from you.

The surveys take just 2–5 minutes, are completely anonymous, and participants may choose to enter a separate drawing for a $50 Amazon Gift Card while keeping survey responses anonymous.

Together, we're building something North Alabama families have never had before. We can't wait to share what we learn together.
