Private In-Home Lactation Support
Personalized feeding support in Huntsville and North Alabama from an RN + IBCLC
Feeding your baby doesn’t always go the way you expected — and you shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.
North Alabama Newborn Nurse offers private, in-home lactation support for families in Huntsville, Madison, and surrounding North Alabama communities. Our lactation visits are provided by experienced Registered Nurses who are also International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs), bringing both clinical knowledge and compassionate postpartum support directly to your home.
Whether you’re preparing for breastfeeding during pregnancy, struggling with latch pain, navigating pumping, returning to work, supplementing, weaning, or simply wanting reassurance that feeding is going well, we’re here to support your family through every stage of the feeding journey.
Support without pressure or judgment
Every family’s feeding journey looks different.
Some families breastfeed exclusively. Some pump. Some supplement. Some combination feed. Many are figuring things out one day at a time.

Leaving the house with a newborn can feel overwhelming, especially while recovering postpartum, navigating sleep deprivation, and trying to establish feeding.
In-home lactation support allows your consultant to observe feeding in your environment using your own setup, routines, pumps, bottles, and supplies. Babies are often more comfortable at home, and support can be tailored more realistically to your day-to-day life.
Our goal is to make families in Huntsville and North Alabama feel more supported, informed, and confident during the early newborn weeks.

Our in-home lactation services can be booked as a standalone service or added onto other North Alabama Newborn Nurse offerings, including:
Overnight newborn nurse care
Daytime postpartum visits
First Week Home RN Visit
Bringing Home Baby classes
Virtual newborn support

Initial in-home lactation visits are $200 and typically last approximately 90 minutes.
This includes:
In-home RN + IBCLC support
Personalized feeding assessment
Written follow-up care plan
One week of follow-up communication related to your visit recommendations
At this time, lactation services are offered as private-pay visits and we do not bill insurance directly. Coverage for outpatient lactation support has become increasingly limited in Alabama, though some families may choose to submit documentation to their insurance provider independently.
Reimbursement is not guaranteed. Receipts or documentation can be provided upon request. HSA/FSA eligibility may vary depending on your individual plan.

Sometimes families contact us because they are facing a major feeding challenge. Other times, they simply want reassurance that things are going normally.
Some common reasons families schedule lactation support include:
Breastfeeding is painful
Baby seems frustrated or constantly hungry
Concerns about milk supply
Baby is struggling to latch
Pumping feels overwhelming or confusing
Questions about flange sizing or pump settings
Returning to work and needing a pumping plan
Triple feeding exhaustion
Concerns about weight gain or milk transfer
Frequent feeds or “cluster feeding”
Bottle refusal
Wanting support before baby arrives
Weaning questions
Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure if feeding is going “right”
You do not have to wait until things feel severe to ask for support. Many families benefit from simply having an experienced RN + IBCLC help guide and reassure them through the feeding journey.
